❖ Regaining Her Senses

Regaining Her Senses

Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch make the five senses.  Each of these is depicted in the poem and the artwork.  What fun was had in creating this bit of whimsy!  But in all honesty, the sense of freedom that pervades when child rearing is done, is profound.  Mind you, this era can be short lived, as aged parents fill the space and women again become carers.  My advice is, enjoy it while you can.

Selling this work as one piece was very pleasing, and I admit to being extremely remiss in not keeping any records about such transactions.  When I embarked on this project, I had not read the poem for years, but when I did, it made me laugh aloud at the memory of that time and the surge of creativity that burst from me.

Women often struggle to find time and space to be creative.  I have been blessed with a family life that has been secure and happy, so my struggles are hardly worth mentioning.  My thoughts go out to those who struggle without support and my admiration goes to those who achieve much against great odds.
